British photographer and visual artist Heather was 19 when she bought her first camera on an impulse. Having experienced some difficulties with her mental health, Heather found her camera to be a therapeutic tool. She began to use photography to better understand herself, holding a mirror up to her inner thoughts and struggles, and this practice gradually evolved into an established and admirable career. Heather has since gone on to be nominated for numerous prestigious awards, and her incredible work has been published, performed, and exhibited both in the UK and internationally.
Ever since I picked up my first camera, I’ve felt empowered by the agency a camera gives you. Photography allows me to share my vulnerabilities - and Nikon’s gear has elevated my work and transform the way I express myself. The first Nikon camera I shot with was the D3500 back in 2022, after winning the kit from the Photo London Emerging Photographer Award. I was quickly in awe of its ability to capture such richly detailed photos, which resulted in powerful artistic portraits.
I’ve since tried my hand at the Nikon Z 50 and Nikon Z 7II cameras too, both of which provide scrupulous attention to detail that matches my passion for precision. Nikon’s gear has given me the power to release my ideas perfectly, and I haven’t looked back since.
